A year after they were eliminated by the same opponent at this exact stage in the Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid made sure there wasn't any upset this time as they battled past Alcoyano. It wasn't a straightforward victory this time around either as the 3rd division side once again put up a good fight.

Buoyed by the 4800 fans at the El Collao, the home team started brightly. Real's goalkeeper Lunin, whose last match was against the same team a year ago, had some work to do early on and Camavinga made a goal-line clearance to deny Alcoyano.

But Real drew first blood as centre half Eder Miliato scored from a free header. But Alcoyano equalized in the second half through Dani Vega as there were signs of a comeback like last year. But Marco Asensio restored the lead with a lucky deflection to squash any chance of a comeback. Alcoyano's goalkeeper Jose Juan scored an unfortunate own goal to extend Madrid's lead.

The Los Blancos are into the last 16 of the Copa Del Rey as they look to win the competition after a long gap of 8 years.

Barcelona secured a hard-fought victory against third-tier side Linares Deportivo in the Copa Del Rey. Xavi rested a lot of first-team stars for this game and Dani Alves made his second Barcelona debut.

Barcelona had plenty of the ball in the first half and created quite a few chances. They were utterly dominant having 80% possession but bad finishing and decision-making in the final third let them down.

They were punished for finishing off their chances as Linares took the lead in the 19th minute. Hugo Diaz got to the end of a cross from Carnicer and headed home. The Blaugrana kept attacking for the rest of the half but could not find the equalizer.

Xavi had to bring in the big guns Gerard Pique, Frenkie De Jong and Ousmane Dembele for the 2nd half. They made an instant impact as Dembele equalized for Barca after coming close minutes earlier. He scored his 1st goal of the season as his curling effort went below the goalkeeper's hands.

FIve minutes later, they scored the winner from a quick counter-attack as Jutgla scored with 20 minutes to go. Linares then had a goal disallowed for offside and hit the crossbar as well but couldn't find the equalizer.
